Job Description

The Yacht Crew Manager is responsible for the recruitment, placement, administration, and ongoing management of crew members across a fleet of yachts. This role serves as the primary point of contact for captains, yacht owners, and crew, ensuring vessels are staffed with qualified personnel while maintaining compliance with maritime regulations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Crew Recruitment & Placement

  • Source, screen, interview, and place qualified yacht crew for permanent, rotational, and temporary positions.
  • Maintain an active database of crew candidates and industry contacts.
  • Match crew skills, experience, certifications, and personalities to vessel requirements.
  • Coordinate onboarding and joining logistics for new hires.

Crew Administration

  • Verify crew certifications, licenses, visas, passports, and medical documentation.
  • Monitor certification expiry dates and ensure compliance with maritime regulations.
  • Manage employment contracts, payroll coordination, and personnel records.
  • Maintain accurate crew databases and reporting systems.

Client & Captain Relations

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with yacht owners, captains, management companies, and crew.
  • Act as the primary liaison between clients and crew throughout the employment lifecycle.
  • Respond promptly to staffing requests and operational requirements.
  • Provide guidance on market trends, salary benchmarks, and crew retention strategies.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure all crew placements comply with maritime employment regulations, MLC requirements, and flag state regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and crew information.
  • Support audits and documentation reviews as required.
  • Stay informed of industry legislation and best practices.

Crew Welfare & Retention

  • Support crew career development and progression opportunities.
  • Address crew concerns and employment-related issues professionally and confidentially.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with crew and clients to ensure successful placements.
  • Promote a positive and professional working environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in yacht crew recruitment, yacht management, crewing, HR, or maritime operations.
  • Strong understanding of the yachting industry, crew roles, and certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of MLC regulations and maritime employment practices.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and crew management/recruitment software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Maritime, HR, or business-related qualification.
  • Experience working onboard yachts or within yacht management companies.
  • Multilingual skills are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of international visa and travel requirements.
