Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a design and engineering studio in the New Forest that supports the luxury and high performance yacht sectors through proviidng a range of engineering solutions.

With projects ranging from a 4m electric tender to a 40m superyacht, the team cover a hugely diverse range of different projects and offer employees an opportunity to be involved in some groundbreaking innovations.

Duties for the role will include

  • Design engineering of lightweight composite components
  • Calculating scantlings for motor and sailing yachts based on various classification society Standards
  • Optimisation of existing composite components for weight reduction and renewability
  • Collaborating with production by helping with design refinements
  • Carrying out structural calculations as required for the project across a range of scenarios
  • Leading minor engineering projects from concept through to delivery
  • Providing sound estimates for engineering work and technical guidance to other team members
  • Liaison with sub-contract manufacturers and suppliers regarding design solutions
  • Creation of technical reports

To be considered for the role you will need to hold a relevant degree qualification and a minimum of 3 years experience in composite structural design. With a strong grasp of composite layup and manufacturing methods, you will work on structural engineering tasks including FEA and be confident taken on projects that will push the boundraries of composite engineering
